Bulgaria registers deflation in November

Date: 14.12.2008

The Bulgarian National Statistics Institute registered a 0,1% deflation in November, according to data published on Friday.

However, since the beginning of 2008 until the month of November, prices of services and goods in the country have gone up by 12,8%, while for the November 2007 - November 2008 period they have increased by 9,1%.

The November deflation is largely a result of price decrease in the transport (3,1% down) and services (5,2% down) sectors, and fuels for household needs.

Clothing and shoes, rents, house improvements, hotels and restaurant services, and doctor exams have registered price increases in November.

Some food items' prices such as ground and chicken meat have gone up, while prices of flour, bread and cheese have gone down.
