Bulgaria's Black Sea airports get more flights, fewer passengers

The two airports of Bulgaria's Black Sea cities Varna and Burgas serviced 3,4 million passengers and 32 100 flights in 2008, their administration announced Thursday.

The Varna Airport got 15 129 flights in 2008, which is a 1,06% increase compared to their number in 2007. The Burgas airport serviced 16 949 flights in 2008, 5,18% more than it did in 2007.

1 936 853 passengers traveled through the Burgas Airport in 2008, a 0,63% decrease, and 1 450 192 used the Varna Airport (a 2,88% decrease).

The most popular destinations with flights from and to Burgas were Prague, Moscow, Manchester, Amsterdam, and Duesseldorf.

The Varna Airport saw a 53% increase in the number of passengers using the internal Bulgarian airlines in 2008.
