According to the chamber's president, Marin Neshkov, Varna was a suitable place forweddings and the city could take the niche of of organising wedding tourism, including wedding anniversaries and honeymoon trips.

Neshkov said Varna could offer outlandish options such as underwater and yacht weddings. Couples can also choose the St Constantine monastery, which stores St Valentine relics, as a wedding venue.

This could help the tourism industry in the region amid the ongoing financial crises, he said.

The chamber has already spoken to the city hall company performing wedding ceremonies. According to the company, about 2400 Israeli couples have performed their marriages in Varna over the past few years.

Varna will first be advertised as a wedding destination at the Romanian tourism fair, which will be held in Bucharest on March 19-22 2009.
