Major Bulgaria-Greece Border Crossing Point Blockaded Anew

Date: 25.01.2010

The major crossing point on the Bulgaria-Greece border – Kulata-Promahonas – is blockaded once again on Monday by protesting Greek farmers.

The Border Police have announced that some 200 trucks are waiting in line on the Bulgarian side of the border at Kulata as the Greek farmers demanding higher agricultural produce prices have once again blocked the road after they had eased the blockade over the weekend letting vehicles get through at certain intervals of time.

The other two major border crossing point between Bulgaria and Greece – Ilinden-Eksohi, and Kapitan Petko Voivoda-Ormenion – are not blockaded.

The Border Police have announced that the situation along the border is peaceful despite the blockade of Kulata.
