Bulgaria Ministers Caught up in Volcanic Ash Travel Chaos

Date: 18.04.2010

3 Bulgarian ministers have been caught up in the volcanic ash transport chaos, with the Transport Minister, Alexander Tsvetkov, sill stuck in Spain.

The latest reports suggest that Sofia and Plovdiv airports are still open, with forecasts suggesting that the volcanic ash cloud will continue to retreat to the North of the country.

Finance Minister Simeon Djankov and Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov are both set to take alternative routes home – landing in Athens or Istanbul.

The Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Ministry has requested permission from Croatia and Serbia to put on extra international buses and train carriages to help Bulgarian and foreign citizens cope with the increasing travel chaos.
