Entry Visas Discourage Turkish Tourists from Coming to Bulgaria

Date: 28.04.2010

The visa regime between Bulgaria and Turkey discourages our neighbors from spending their holiday to Bulgaria. This conclusion was reached by Bulgarian and Turkish tour operator during a meeting with Mr. Cuneyt Yavuzcan, Turkish Consul-General in the city of Plovdiv, who promised to assist Bulgarian travel agencies if they any encounter difficulties organizing trips to Turkey.

Bulgarian Entry visas for Turkish citizens are difficult to get and their price of 160 euro is often higher than the price of the trip. In addition, application fees are non-refundable if the visa applications are turned down. For these reasons many Turkish tourists prefer to spend their holiday in Romania, where visa issue is not so cumbersome.
