Bulgarian Households Save only EUR 50 per Month

Only 45 % of the Bulgarians could save money regularly over the past five years. However, 43 % of those who could save deposit in their bank accounts not more than 100 levs (about 50 euros) per month. This becomes clear from the results of a survey on the investment preferences of the Bulgarian people, carried out by Bulgaria's MKB UnionBank.

Only 5.4 % of the Bulgarians could save over 300 levs (150 euros) per month. These account for 12 % of the Bulgarian households.

Fifty-eight percent of the participants in the survey say that if they could afford to save, they would stash small cash of about 50 levs (25 euros) per month. Over one-third of the Bulgarian households prefer to put their savings in one-year deposits interestingly, 27 % of the households seek to invest their free capital into real property.
