Bulgaria's Berbatov to Get 3-Year Contract with United - Report

Bulgarian star striker Dimitar Berbatov will get a new contract for three years with Manchester United, with 18 months left on his current contract.

Berbatov will get improved terms with a weekly wage of GBP 120 000 a week, according to a report of the Manchester Evening Post.

The Manchester paper points out that Bulgaria the Premier League's leading goalscorer this season with 14 (goals) has finally found his feet at Old Trafford."

It says United chiefs are confident negotiations will go smoothly with Berbatov's representatives already making it clear he wants to end his career with the club.

In the fall of 2010, the 29-year-old Berbatov has had a very memorable season overcoming what has been described as inconsistent performances after his transfer from Tottenham in September 2008. His most impressive achievements in the Premier League so far this season were a hat-trick against Liverpool and five goals against Blackburn.

Manchester United is known for offering players who hit 30 only one-year contracts.

On Sunday, British tabloid News of the World reported that Berbatov is expected to get a 2-year extension of his contract with a weekly salary of GBP 140 000.
