Domino's Pizza Plans Three Restaurants in Bulgaria by 2012

Date: 21.01.2011

The US-based pizza maker and distributor, Domino's Pizza, which entered Bulgaria at the beginning of January, plans to open another two restaurants by the end of the year.

The master franchisee for Bulgaria is Anatron Food Services, who also serves as the master franchisee for Domino's Pizza in Greece and Cyprus.

However, the stores in Bulgaria will be operated by LN Solutions, owned by Lazgin Majid and Nikola Nikolov. The two partners have experience with other fast food franchises, as well as a non-food franchise, and also are involved in other businesses in the country. Their broad business experience in Bulgaria makes them well-positioned to develop Domino's into a leading brand in the country.

"Domino's Pizza is known around the world for delivering quality products to its customers," said Majid. "The people of Bulgaria will now get to experience the high level of service and quality pizza that customers worldwide enjoy."

The first restaurant is in the "Krasno selo" district in the capital Sofia and delivers hot and delicious pizzas to the citizens of the southern districts.

Domino's Pizza now operates in 69 markets worldwide, with nearly half of its global retail sales coming from international stores, generating roughly a third of its operating income.

The chain specializes in home and office deliveries and belongs to the Bain Capital Investment Fund. In addition to traditional pizza, it offers sweet pizzas, pasta and sandwiches.

The chain was established in the US in the 1960s and now has 9 000 restaurants in 60 countries. It entered the market in neighboring Romania 2 months ago.

In the second quarter of 2010, the company registered a growth in revenues of 14% compared to the negative 2009 results.

According to data of Euromonitor International, the fast food market in Europe is growing, despite the crisis – 8% up in 2009, compared with 2008.
