Bulgaria Wants More Flights from Moscow to Black Sea Resorts

Date: 03.06.2011

The relations between Bulgaria and Russia should not be limited to talks on energy issues only. This was the main message of Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister, Nikolay Mladenov who met his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

After the yesterday’s meeting between Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov and his Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov it transpired that Bulgaria insists on increasing the number of airlines connecting Moscow with the popular Bulgarian Black Sea destinations – Varna and Burgas. Currently there are 14 flights a week while Sofia would like 21 flights to serve these destinations. Lavrov took the commitment to address the issue. The two ministers discussed bilateral cooperation in economy and power engineering as well as other current issues in the relations between Bulgaria and Russia. To the question of the hosts concerning the major energy projects Mladenov answered that these problems will be considered in the context of Bulgaria’s interests and in the light of diversification of energy resources and oil-gas routes.
