Prices in Bulgaria Freeze

Inflation in May is 3.9 %, officials from the National Statistical Institute announced. Accumulated inflation from the beginning of 2011 is 2.6 % and for the last 12 months it is 4.8 %. Inflation rates registered in May are the lowest for a period of about a year after prices dropped by 0.9 % in June 2010.

As a result saving became profitable again - yearly interests for bank accounts in BGN are over 6 %, according to information from Bulgarian National Bank for April.

Inflation in May is due to the lowering of food prices by 0.5 % and of alcohol by 0.2 %.
