The French museum trains Bulgarian experts

Director of Louvre Henri Loyrette and his team of experts made a four day tour in Bulgaria. They visited the most important historical sites and saw some of Bulgaria’s treasures. In Bourgas they saw the Panagyurishte treasure, which is on display in the coastal city. Varna’s gold, dating back to the Neolithic age stirred interest, but the Thracian tomb of Kazanlak really impressed them.

The artifacts and the sites, which the French experts saw exceeded their expectations and anticipation, officials from Ministry of Culture think.

Mr. Loyrette came to Bulgaria with a team of experts in antiquity and Byzantine period. The Frenchmen were charmed by the traces of ancient civilizations in Bulgaria. The interest of France in Bulgaria’s history and art is great, archaeologists commented. They believe that artifacts from Bulgarian museums might be displayed in the Louvre in different ways – as guest expositions, seminar topics and other forms.

The visit of Mr. Loyrette will give start to long term cooperation with the Louvre, Bulgarian experts believe.
