Bulgaria shows woman's skeleton of 8 000 years

Date: 24.12.2005

A Bulgarian museum will reportedly show a women's skeleton, about 8 000 years old.

The well-preserved bones will be on display at the History Museum of Vratsa, northern Bulgaria.

Scientists have found the skeleton as they were examining a neolith tomb at a village near Vratsa.

They have estimated that the woman was about 25-30 years of age when she died.

Her skeleton is now kept in plaster, and will need a special showcase filled with argon gas, which is needed for the preservation of the bones.
