Superfast Train Rolls Through Bulgarian Villages

Date: 27.12.2005

Villages in northern Bulgaria received a superfast Siemens train for Christmas.

During the past holiday, the new machine headed on its first tour linking the cities of Pleven and Svishtov with smaller settlements in the region.

Pleven's railway station was packed with people who came to see the ultramodern train on December 26, media reported.

As the train rolled on it reached a speed on 110 km/h.

Its route will start from Cherkvitsa station to Pleven and then to Levski and Svishtov.

With the Siemens machine, trips down that route will be much faster and comfortable, officials say.

That train is the 13th of its kind launched all over Bulgaria, after a deal of Bulgaria's Transport Ministry and Siemens, signed during the mandate of the previous government.
