Falconry and archery are back

Date: 29.10.2005

"Bulgarian hunters will have the chance to exercise the art of falconry," said Hristo Mihailov, head of the Union of Bulgarian Hunters and Fishermen. Hunting with bows will be allowed, too. At present the Bulgarian laws forbid the hunting of game with bows or falcons, Mihailov explained. He specified that the hunters won't have the right to use crossbows. These amendments will be made to the Hunters' Act which must be submitted to the Council of Ministers within one month.

"Europeans rarely use the traditional hunting methods," said Dr. Yves Lecocq, Secretary General of the Federation of Hunters' Associations of the European Union (FACE). In Europe only 1% to 5 % of the hunters use bows and falcons.
