Wizz Air with a new connection Sofia-Rome

Date: 24.01.2006

London-registered European low-cost carrier Wizz Air, the first no-frills carrier to enter the Bulgarian market, announced the launch of a new connection between Sofia and Rome.

The new destination will be served two times a week via Budapest. Passengers traveling to Sofia can reach the Bulgarian capital once a week presently and 3 times a week from 26 March.

Promotional fares start from EUR 49.64 one way, including taxes and charges.

The news comes shortly after Wizz Air announced it has carried 13,000 passengers since it started flights from the Bulgarian capital at the end of September 2005.

Wizz Air carried 1,9 million passengers in 2005, representing a growth rate of 233% over 2004 when the airline had 567,885 passengers.

Wizz Air has achieved market leadership in each of the Central and Eastern European countries where it started operations - Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria.
