Britons invade ski runs in Bulgaria on St. Valentine's Day

Tens of couples will contest in kissing on Metchi Chal peak on St Valentine's Day. The romantic tournament is the top attraction for skiers spending their holiday in Chepelare (southeastern Bulgarian winter resort). If the wind allows, tourists will attempt a kissing session while flying para-gliders at some 2000 metres above the ground. The winner couple will be awarded a free weekend and the second-ranking - a romantic dinner.

Night skiing and sleighing will be the surprise for lovers in Pamporovo (southeastern Bulgarian winter resort, the Rhodopes Mountains). Honey-spiced barbeques, Rhodopian dishes and baked rakia and wine are some of the cuisine attractions for the guests on St Valentine's Day. The ski instructors have also prepared a fire show and will act a version of the kiss scene from the Titanic movie.

Many Englishmen chose to spend their love vacation in Bulgarian winter resorts, according to tour operators, 1200 skiers from the Great Britain have invaded the ski runs in Bulgaria's most famous winter resort of Bansko.

The Mountain Rescue Service, however, warned that the higher temperatures in the latest days have generated a great risk of avalanches.
