Bulgaria Air flies Burgas-Madrid in summer 06

Date: 15.04.2006

Bulgaria's flag carrier will launch weekly flights from the Black Sea city of Burgas to Spain's capital Madrid on June 7, the airline announced.

This is the first time that Burgas airport will service the destination, which is expected to enjoy great popularity among passengers heading for the Iberian Peninsula and Southern America.

Bulgaria Air will service the new route until October 25. The flights will be carried out every Wednesday from and to Madrid.

The price for a two-way ticket is EUR 167, airport taxes excluded. The total charge for a round-trip ticket is EUR 244.

Bulgaria Air said the launch of the new route would serve well the hundreds of Bulgarians living in Spain. According to official data 60,000 Bulgarians have relocated permanently to Spain. Unofficial figures set their number at around 120,000.

At the end of February Bulgaria Air announced it is adding three new destinations to its timetable in a bid to enlarge its share on the local market. In April Bulgaria Air is starting to service flights from Sofia to Dublin, while the summer timetable includes flights from Dublin to Bulgaria's Black Sea airports. Other new routes that will be operated are outgoing flights from Milan to Varna, from London to Burgas and Kuwait.
