Easy Fly grinds to halt after 1 flight

Date: 05.02.2006

Low-cost airline Easy Fly, which was expected to service flights among Sofia, Plovdiv, Berlin, Alicante and Munich, has stopped its activities after carrying out one flight, reports said.

Easy Fly flew from Plovdiv to Berlin on a plane of Bulgarian private air carrier Hemus Air at the end of January.

‘We have never had a contract with Easy Fly. It was signed under the condition that it will come into force only if the company offers proofs that it is licensed to work as either a tour operator or an airline company," the executive director of Hemus Air Dimitar Pavlov told Sega Daily.

The prices of the one-way tickets were set at EUR 29, airport fees excluded.

Bexx Air, the first low fare air charter company in Bulgaria, was closed in September 2004 on charges that the firm was operating without license and has never even tried to legitimize its business in Bulgaria.
