Nearly 70% more Norwegian tourists visited Bulgaria in 2006

Bulgaria took part in Norway's biggest travel expo Reiseliv for the first time, State Agency for Tourism (SAT) said.

The expo was held in Oslo from January 11 to 14 2007, Focus news agency reported.

Bulgaria's presentation emphasised on the possibilities for sea, cultural and spa tourism in the country.

Nearly 44 000 visitors visited the expo, Focus said. Nearly 1061 exhibitors from 61 countries took part in it.

Focus reported that more than 68 600 Norwegian tourists visited Bulgaria in 2006. Their number represented a 72 per cent increase as compared to figures for 2005.

The three biggest Norwegian tour-operators, My Travel Norway, TUI Norway and Apollo Norway offered vacation packages to Bulgaria in 2006.

The middle and southern Black Sea coast were the most preferred destinations, Focus said.
