Freed Bulgarian medics establish foundation

The five Bulgarian nurses, who were released from imprisonment in Libya, as well as Doctors Zdravko Georgiev and Ashraf al-Hajuj, established a foundation, whose main activity will be to fight for free and condign life.

The foundation, named May 6 will organize actions for the release of the wrongfully sentenced and jailed people.

"We will fight for the abolition of capital punishment anywhere around the world, where it is still present," Doctor Zdravko Georgiev said.

Parliamentary Speaker Georgi Pirinski and Deputy Interior Minister Feim Chausev were among the distinguished guests on the founding ceremony.

The medics, who returned home after more than eight years, spent in Libyan jail, have been very active in working in the area of human rights after they came to Bulgaria.
