Bulgaria's State Debt up by EUR 21,5 M in September

Bulgaria's state debt at the end of September 2008 has reached EUR 4,7893 B, according to the official data of the Bulgarian Ministry of Finance, which was released Thursday.

This is an increase by EUR 21,5 M in one month, which resulted from the foreign loan tranches Bulgaria received during this period as well as from the exchange rates fluctuations.

Bulgaria's foreign debt amounts to EUR 3,2384 B (67,6% of the total state debt), and the domestic debt is EUR 1,5509 B (32,4% of the total state debt). The state guaranteed debt is EUR 606,6 M.

Thus, the Bulgarian state debt amounts to 15,2% of the country's GDP (2008 Estimate), which is an increase of 0,1% compared to the August level.

Bulgaria's foreign debt is 10,3% of the GDP, the internal debt is 4,9% of the GDP, and the state guaranteed debt amounts to 1,9% of the GDP.

In 2008 so far Bulgaria has paid a total of BGN 1,6726 B in installments for the principal and interests of its state debt. BGN 1,1494 B were paid for its foreign debt, and BGN 523,3 M for its internal debt.

The largest part of the sum was paid in Euro (54,9%) followed by Bulgarian lev (30,2%), and US dollars (10,5%).
