Bulgaria's Globul Q1 Revenues Up 7,9% to EUR 109,1 M

Bulgaria's second-biggest mobile operator Globul, a unit of Greek Cosmote, reported a 7,9 % rise in revenues to EUR 109,1 M in the first quarter of 2009 over the same period the previous year.

The company's operating profit for the same period towered to EUR 17,9 M, marking a 2,9 % rise year-upon-year. Operating income before depreciation and amortization (OIBDA) improved 2,7 % to EUR 41,4 million.

Globul's contract customer base rose by 15,8 % to 2,1 million, or 51,4 % of the total, but pre-paid customers marked a 7 % fall in the first quarter. Globul estimates set its market share at 38,1 %, which makes it the second-biggest mobile operator in the country after Mobiltel.
