Bulgarian Woman Runs on Italian Right-Wing EP Ballot

Date: 21.05.2009

The Bulgarian national, Antonia Gospodinova, is the first Eastern European to be included in the Italian ballot for the EP elections.

Antonia has been nominated to run at the elections for Members of the European Parliament (MEP) this summer by the extreme right-wing coalition, L'Autonomia (Autonomy. The Coalition's memberships includes ministers from former cabinets of the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi.

Antonia is one of the few foreigners to make the Italian ticket.

Gospodinova was born in Sofia; she obtained her law degree from the Sofia University, and later went on to study and specialize in international relations in Florence, Geneva and Brussels, the Bulgarian TV channel bTV informs.

The last Italian polls list L'Autonomia at 4,5 % which means that they stand a good chance to overcome the 4 % threshold.
