Crisis Opens Plenty of Empty Office Space in Bulgaria Capital Sofia

Date: 22.08.2009

1 in every 7 offices in downtown Sofia was empty in the second half of 2009. Photo by Plenty of empty offices have become available in the Bulgarian capital Sofia as a result of the booming construction in the recent years followed by the economic crisis.

This becomes clear from a report of the real estate consultancy Colliers International, as cited by the Novinar Daily.

The data shows that in the first six months of 2009 the unoccupied office space in Sofia reached the record 13,4%, which is about 130 000 square meters.

Thus, about one in every seven offices in downtown Sofia is empty; the situation is worse in the peripheral areas of the city where one in five offices is unoccupied.
