Veselin Cinzov – winner again!

The young athlete seized Cherni Vrah peak and took’s prizes

Sunday August 29th Veselin Cinzov, the young hope of the Bulgarian Biathlon National Team, won the men’s mountain run competition Vitosha Run 2010 with a time of 1 hour and 42 minutes and Boyko Zlatanov won the veteran men’s category. Rumyana Panovska won the women’s as well as the‘veteran women’s category with 2 hours and 7 minutes.

The competition’s route was 18 km, which started from National Palace of Culture and finished at Cherni Vrah peak at the top of Vitosha which is 2 290 meters above sea level.

Each winner in the competition received’s Cruise and Travel prizes – two vacations for two nights in Hotel Rex in Meteora, Kalambaka Greece and two vacations in Sunny Beach in Helena 2, and Sunny Twins hotels.

In front of the Eco and Travel Guide camera, which is a sponsored production, Cinzov and Panovska appealed to people to be more active in sports and to spend more time focusing on activities for a healthy lifestyle. John Hazlewood, the CEO of, the first online travel and entertainment portal in Bulgaria also participated in the competition and finished with a time of 3 hours. His team was there supporting him and taking interviews from different competitors such as Boyan who is only 10 years old as well as the top winners for the Eco and Travel Guide.

Vitosha Run is organized for the fourth successive year and the organizers from the Marathon Union announced that, in comparison with the previous year, this year the number of the participants in the competition tripled in the mountain run with both professionals and amateurs competing and for the first time some foreigners took part.

One of the foreigners was John Hazlewood who said that the running was tiresome but very challenging and was his first mountain competition. Hazlewood is famous with the fact that he is an American businessman who has developed a successful Internet business in Bulgaria and abroad. In addition he is a person who leads a healthy and Eco lifestyle participating in numerous marathons and triathlons around the world and as an Eco person supporting the global eco idea for a cleaner environment and saving the natural resources in order to make the world a better place.

Borislav Pankov who is the organizer of Vitosha Run was also a Bulgarian Biathlon National Team member and now coaches both the Bulgarian Men and Women Biathlon Teams and is a personal trainer for John Hazlewood. During the Eco and Travel Guide interview, Pankov said that the Marathon Union’s future plans are that Vitosha Run will become part of the International track-and-field athletics Federation’s program. Vitosha Run is unique because it is the only mountain running competition in the world that begins from the capital city of a country and running up a mountain over 2 000 meters above sea level.
